Our Journey

Maaruma-Li AMS was created from a community vision to establish an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation for the Warrumbungle Local Government Area.

What began as a community consultation in June 2022 grew into a movement led by Gomeroi Elders, community members and local leaders determined to improve health outcomes through self determination and community control.

Over the following years, partnerships were strengthened, governance structures established, infrastructure secured and the foundations laid for a culturally governed health service designed by community for community.

In March 2026, Maaruma-Li AMS officially opened its doors. Today, the organisation stands as a testament to the strength of community leadership, working alongside partners across health, disability, social and emotional wellbeing and community development to create healthier futures for Aboriginal people, families and communities across the Warrumbungle LGA.
